Description

Mercedes 220 SEB Cabriolet/Convertible 1964

The W111 Cabriolet was produced from 1961 to 1971.
An elegant and timeless original factory-built convertible that exudes the class and beauty of the Mercedes brand. The car has been in the care of a German, car-crazy family for more than 60 years!!—a family that continues to love and cherish this car to this very day. If cars could talk, this vehicle would have many stories to tell: from baptisms and weddings to rallies and weekend drives….
We are delighted to present and sell this lovely example on behalf of our client.
Extensive work has been carried out on this vehicle to ensure its very good technical condition. Invoices and receipts of its works are certainly available. The car recently underwent service and maintenance and is ready to go into a new adventure.
From the iconic radiator grille to the characteristic 1960s taillights and the beautiful chrome details, right down to the well-maintained interior, the car exudes the highest level of solidity and timeless elegance.

The car has been continuously maintained and driven, and the family has made ongoing investments in it.
Most recently, a comprehensive and professional engine seal replacement was performed:
- The crankshaft, fuel injection pump, and oil pan were removed and reinstalled, and completely resealed (including the front crankshaft seal and rear Borgmann ring).
- Valve timing was perfectly adjusted, and the chain and sprockets were inspected.
- All bearings were inspected during the work and found to be in very good condition.
- Cosmetic finish: The engine compartment and the engine’s attached components were repainted at the same time.

Extensive value-preservation and modernization measures in recent years:

2022: New headliner
2017: New steel-braided brake lines, new fuel hoses, adjustment of the steering wheel-mounted gearshift, installation of beige lap belts (Safety)
2015: Complete replacement of the leather upholstery with genuine Mercedes leather (Beige Nature)
2014: Partial underbody restoration, cavity sealing, installation of Lokari front wheel well liners, new door seals, repainting up to the level of the wheel wells, and a completely new, high-quality carpet set.

All invoices for the work mentioned above are documented and on file.
This Mercedes-Benz drives superbly. The 2,180 cc, 88 kW six-cylinder engine impresses with its wonderful sound, and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Even a test drive is a pleasure here. The 86,500 km on the odometer show that this car is no “trailer queen,” but rather a car that has been enjoyed on the road.
Visually, the car is in good condition, with the usual signs of use and a charming patina. The paintwork is consistent and, aside from a few minor imperfections, can be described as good. It’s not a “concours” vehicle, but it’s certainly a beautiful daily driver that looks great.
Even today, this Mercedes continues to impress with its outstanding driving characteristics. Despite being over 60 years old, the car drives fantastically, and you can effortlessly cover long distances in it.
Climb into this beautiful 1960s convertible and enjoy the upcoming classic car season with fabulous drives. It recently passed its TÜV inspection in Germany, valid through 2026, with no defects found.
The car is registered in Germany and carries a classic car “H” license plate.
