1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet A: One of Approximately 300 with a 'Curved Windshield'

This charming 1954 Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet A is an extremely collectible and desirable car wearing a quality older restoration. One of Approximately 300 equipped with a curved windshield. During 1953 the manufacturer replaced the conventionally flat windscreen on the Cabriolet A with a slightly curved screen, this was a way of highlighting the sporting nature of the model. Brown with brown leather interior. Offered with history documenting ownership, maintenance, and the restoration process. A binder of documentation totalling over $41,000 and photographs from the 5 year restoration accompany the car. Recent work includes rebuilding the carburetor, adding fresh fluids, installing a new battery, and new brake shoes. It has clearly always been well maintained and garage kept. This elegant Mercedes-Benz runs and drives well and presents beautifully with good paint, brightwork, and clean interior. A very straight car with good panel and door fit as well as a solid and clean undercarriage. An excellent driver quality example ready for weekend touring. The 1950s was a golden era for Mercedes-Benz, as the marque renewed its reputation for creating luxury vehicles. Mercedes-Benz introduced the 220 Sedan at the Frankfurt Auto Show April 1951 as the successor to the 170S. It had a number of updates, the primary of which being a streamlining of the headlight fitment. They were now faired into the fenders with chrome trim atop. However, the most significant change was under the hood, where a new 2.2-liter six-cylinder engine replaced the earlier four-cylinder engine used in the 170S. This timeless classic Mercedes-Benz 220 Cabriolet A is sure to put a smile on the face of its next loving owner.
