Description

What a beauty. Back in the day, Mercedes-Benz knew very well how to design a beautiful convertible. This W180-generation 220S Ponton Cabriolet which is also matching, is no exception. This is a particularly beautiful 220S Ponton Cabriolet which is finished in the very special color Color Weiss-Grün (DB112) with a dark green leather interior and upholstery and a dark green fabric hood, what a combination so beautiful! This Mercedes-Benz was first admitted in July 1958 in America and came back to Europe namely Germany in 2014. The car was beautifully restored and overhauled there which is captured in several photo’s to the highly original (Germans are quite punktlich!). The 220S has been owned by the previous owner since 2014. In recent years the car has always been extremely well cared for and has been very well maintained. The body has beautiful sheet metal all around with correct fits. The Weiss Grüne paint is in particularly good condition. The green linen hood was replaced in the past restoration and fits well throughout. The cloth hood is in very good condition. The interior features very nice green leather complemented by green velour carpet. The leather is generally in very nice condition. The dashboard finished woodwork and chrome work are both dazzling. A car should not only look fantastic but also drive that way. That is also very much the case with this Mercedes-Benz 220S Ponton Cabriolet. The car is powered by a 2.2 liter six-in-line engine with two Solex carburetors and is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. The engine and manual transmission have already been completely overhauled at a Mercedes-Benz specialist in the past, and it shows while driving. The engine delivers its full torque of 171.5 newton meters at 3,500 rpm. The full 108 horsepower is released at 5,200 rpm. The substantial swept volume combined with the fine gearbox ratios ensure that you can always keep up with traffic and the 220S drives very modern for a car from the ’50s. In short, a beautifully executed Mercedes-Benz 220S Pontoon Cabriolet in very exceptional cared for and truly dazzling new condition. Will you be the new proud owner of this top restored W180-generation 220S Ponton Cabriolet, one of 2178 produced between 1956 and 1959.
