Description

HIGHLIGHTS: Survivor car! Just one owner since new! Offered for sale for the first time since 1967! Time-capsule, 289-powered, two-door Cougar cruiser! Unrestored survivor with one repaint!

BODY OVERVIEW: The body on this 1967 Mercury Cougar is in impressive original condition! With just over what is said to be 100,000 actual miles on this unrestored car, it is looking pretty good for 55 years old. There are some previous rust repairs visible underneath the car, as seen in the photos, but when taking into consideration the age and mileage of this car, plus the fact that it has never seen a restoration, the condition is impressive overall.

PAINT CONDITION OVERVIEW: This Cougar received a repaint in its original color many years ago, and while the paint is showing its age on the top side of the car, the sides show that this was a paint job done well when fresh. It currently presents in good driver condition.

INTERIOR CONDITION OVERVIEW: The interior is the original black vinyl that is looking surprisingly good for its age! Though some wear is expected, there are only two notable tears as seen in the photos which is quite impressive for an original vehicle this age. The seat condition coupled with the very presentable plastic and dash conditions shows the care this car has received by its original (and still current) owner over the years. This car has been loved!

MECHANICAL OVERVIEW: Developed as the Mercury counterpart to the legendary Mustang, it would be almost disappointing if this little Cougar didn't have a 289V8 under the hood. Though this Cougar lacks options such as A/C, power steering, and power brakes, the 289V8 is a box that was ticked! Per the original owner, the 289 was replaced with a new shortblock in the late 1970s after the original engine failed.

WHAT YOU'LL LOVE ABOUT THIS CAR: The overall originality and known ownership history! This is a car you just don't see in this kind of survivor condition anymore.

WHAT YOU MIGHT HATE ABOUT THIS CAR: Though this Cougar remains unrestored to this day, it isn't 100% factory original, because it has been driven and enjoyed on a regular basis since it was new. If you're looking for a super low-mileage example with all OEM Ford parts, this isn't it.

DOES IT NEED ANYTHING? The brake lights are not currently operational, however the sequential signals do work!

WHAT BUYER IS LOOKING FOR THIS CAR? Survivor cars like this can be tough to make a decision on what to do with, especially a one-owner example like this. Sort it out and drive it as-is? Use it as a base for a full restoration? The choice is yours! No matter what you have in mind, this Cougar could be a great option!
