Description

Gateway Classic Cars Houston Showroom is excited to offer this Bright Yellow 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. This car comes with a Marti Elite report: according to the Marti report, it is one of only 3 built in its configuration in 1969. Of the 100,085 Mercury Cougars built in 1969, 66,351 were Standard Hardtops. Only 510 of those were equipped with the Ram Air 428CJ-4V engine. 304 were equipped with Automatic Transmissions. Of those, 162 were equipped with the Eliminator Package. 61 of those cars were painted Bright Yellow, and 53 of those cars had Black Hi-Back Bucket Seats. Of those, only 30 were ordered with Hood Pins. 27 of those cars had AM Radios, and of those, only 3 had Manual Steering and Manual Drum Brakes. Those 3 were identically equipped cars ordered out of the Atlanta District Sales Office, and this one is one of those three cars. The original selling dealer was Courtesy Lincoln Mercury in Birmingham, AL. Included with framed Elite Marti Report is a copy of the original window sticker. Finding a "one of three ever made" car in such good shape is almost like finding "the" needle you're looking for in a stack of needles.

This bad boy has both the Eliminator Equipment Package, and the Eliminator Decor Group. Included with the CobraJet 428 CID-V4 engine package is the Competition Handling Package. All told, the original window sticker came to $4077.10, including the $90.50 destination charge, which was a healthy charge back in 1969. Obviously, a lot has changed since then! However, this car has not. It is basically an amazingly well-cared for car, with things today pretty much as they were in 1969. Preventive maintenance replacement items like shocks, belts, hoses, and tires haven't remained original, which is a good thing (after all, one wouldn't want 48-year-old rubber in those areas)! Once you get past its historic aspects, you'll find that this car starts easily, and drives like you'd expect a 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator with a beefy 428 CobraJet to. With a deep burble to its exhaust, this is unmistakably a vintage muscle car. Underhood, the big 428 idles smoothly, and sounds great. Its automatic transmission shifts smoothly and decisively. Inside, the black ComfortWeave Hi-Back Bucket Seats are both good looking and surprisingly comfortable. Buy this car for its collector value, take it to occasional car meets and show it off, win a bunch of trophies and admiring looks, and make your grandkids rich as it gets passed down through the family...Just don't let it slip through your opportunity to get THE REAL DEAL before it's gone! Features on this 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator include AM Radio, Radial Tires, Rallye Wheels, Seatbelts, and ComfortWeave Vinyl Interior.
