This 1964 Mercury Monterey convertible was under the ownership of one family in California until it was purchased by the seller in July 2022. Subsequent work has included resealing the 390ci V8, installing power-assisted front disc brakes, overhauling the power steering system, and replacing the dual exhaust system, ignition components, water pump, hoses, belts, shocks, rear brakes, and front stabilizer bar links. Finished in Peacock over a white interior, the car also features a three-speed automatic transmission and a power-operated white convertible top. This Monterey convertible is offered with an owner’s manual, recent service records, California black plates, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The car is finished in the original Peacock (B) and is fitted with a power-operated replacement white convertible soft top, chrome trim, and a hood ornament. There is mild wear and aging on small portions of the paint and trim, and close-up photos are provided in the gallery below. Replacement 14″ steel wheels were remounted with the previously installed Hankook thin-whitewall tires in 2024.
The dual bench seats are trimmed in white vinyl upholstery and are contrasted by black dash trim and carpets. The three-spoke steering wheel features 25th Anniversary branding, while lap belts are provided for the front occupants. The heater was also recently repaired. The Mercury AM radio is inoperative, and portions of the interior trim show some wear.
Instrumentation includes a horizontal 120-mph speedometer, a fuel level gauge, and readings for oil pressure, alternator charge status, and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 92k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. The Y-code 390ci V8 is equipped with a two-barrel carburetor and was rated at 250 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque when new. Work in 2024 included pulling the engine and replacing the seals, ignition components, water pump, hoses, belts, and coolant reservoir. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. The dual exhaust system was replaced in September 2022, and photos highlighting the condition of underside surfaces are presented below.
