This is the last series of the MG B ever built, when production of the MG B had actually already ceased. At the time, lots were drawn from interested parties to be able to own a Limited Edition. The current owner of this car had applied for a GT (coupé) of which 580 were built, but was out of luck. His brother living in England had better luck signing up for a roadster and became the owner of this one. After enjoying the car for 4 years, it passed to its current owner: an MG collector in the Netherlands with several MGs in his possession for decades. The car was registered on Dutch plates in 1988 and has always been cherished and well maintained. The car has mainly been used on touring trips, which is why the mileage is limited at 52,416 (84,355 km). Unlike many other examples, this one has been kept in very original condition. Being a late built example, it is considered by many to be the finest driving MG B.EXTERIORAll 420 built roadsters are originally finished in bronze metallic paintwork with with gold striping on the sides and orange seat upholstery. An attractive and retro color combination. This example is damage and rust free and is even still in its first paint. The rubbers, lighting and chrome work is in good condition. The overall optical condition is good with only minimal wear. Characteristic of the later B models are the front spoiler and the popular 4-spoke alloy wheels, which are also still in good condition. The soft top is also in good condition with no cracks or damage, and the locking mechanism functions well. INTERIORA striking interior due to the orange seat upholstery with brown stripes, as originally delivered. The interior is also in original and good condition. Thanks to its year of construction, it is equipped with comfortable conveniences, such as a center armrest, a steering wheel covered in leather, heating and a Pioneer radio/cassette player. The many counters in the dash include an oil temperature gauge and a clock. The synchronized 4-speed transmission features an overdrive, which provides a pleasant ''5th gear.'' The trunk area accommodates the spare tire. TECHNICALTechnically, the MG is well maintained and it starts, drives and shifts therefore excellent. The tires all around are as good as new and the MOT is valid until February 6, 2027. In short: a very original copy of a unique car in the Netherlands!General informationThe MG B: a popular sports car as it should be: lightweight, agile and a pleasure to drive. The MG B succeeded the MG A in 1963, a car that was already quite popular for MG - part of The British Motor Company (BMC) - with over 100,000 units. The MG B would be produced until 1980 and even more of these were eventually produced: over half a million units. In addition to the roadster, other variants were produced such as the MG B GT three-door 2+2 coupé (1965-1980), the six-cylinder MG C (1967-1969), and the eight-cylinder MG B GT V8. With its 1.8-liter engine and 95 horsepower, the MG B was a lot more powerful than the 1.6-liter MG A. In addition to performance and handling, the MG B had to score highly in terms of safety and affordability. This combination made the car a great success. The body is self-supporting and the low center of gravity and use of aluminum body parts ensure a low weight of 970 KG and a high degree of agility. In turn, the independent suspension system benefits comfort. In short: a great success in the height of the British car industry. An ideal classic for touring, vacation driving or just to cherish.MG B Roadster Limited Edition 1981- One of only 420 built (all for the British market)- Full history known: family owned since new- Only 52,416 miles driven- Overdrive- Dutch registration papers from 1988 available- Comfortable interior with heating, center armrest and leather steering wheel- Very original condition- First coat- Technically well maintained- MOT until 6 February 2027HISTORYUnique in the Netherlands: this MG B Roadster Limited Edition, of which only 420 were built, exclusively for the British market and therefore right-hand drive.
