Manufacturer: Carrosso Classic & Sportscars Eekstraat 2 8375HN OLDEMARKT, NL 0625351515 http://www.carrosso.com [email protected] for information in English down belowMG C Roadster Overdrive 1968- 'Body-off' restored- Rally prepared- Easy to drive in two versions (rally or standard)- Polyester hardtop - Luxurious fabric softtop- Many technical updates- Comprehensive documentation- 2.9-liter 6-cylinder engine- Rare: 4.542 MG C Roadsters built- Owned by the same owner for nearly 20 yearsHISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONThis MG C Roadster began life on July 18, 1968 in the United States. In 2002 it was exported to the Netherlands, where it was completely body-off restored. A photo reportage of this is available. In 2006, the MG came into the possession of the current owner, who spared no expense to prepare the car for driving rallies. Both technically and optically the car has been improved, but it is also relatively easy to bring it back to its original state. Present with the car is a beautiful fabric-covered folder with lots of documentation including appraisal reports, maintenance invoices, parts catalogs and a trim catalog. The last owner used the car for both rallying and vacationing: by installing the soft top and trunk lid with luggage rack, the car is easily transformed from a sporty rally car to a wonderful, practical touring car.EXTERIORA sporty appearance: a subtle color yellow (Primrose Yellow) of the paintwork, the well-known "Mini-Lite" alloy wheels with central wheel nut, a "Sebring" front spoiler and, of course, the absence of the chrome bumpers and the addition of decals, which makes it a real rally car. Of course, the original parts are present with the car, such as the chrome bumpers, front lip and seats. Both the striking black and white checkered polyester hardtop and the black fabric softtop are in good condition. The body parts fit together correctly. The windows, rubbers and chrome work are also in good condition. There are only slight traces of use. At the front flaunt 4 Cibie fog lights/beam headlights and on the side the 'Union Jack' emblems. At the rear, additional fog lights and mud flaps are mounted. The headlights have protective caps. Also included with the car are multiple seat belts (3-point and 4-point), a cover for the soft top, an additional trunk lid with luggage rack and a roll-bar.INTERIORThe black interior is currently equipped with rally seats. The original skai leather seats are present with the car. The upholstery is in good condition. A sporty leather-clad Moto-Lita steering wheel and aluminum gearshift lever have been fitted. Additional gauges have also been mounted for such things as battery voltage and trip meters. Other upgrades include a dashboard-operated horn, USB ports, 12-volt connectors, a ground switch and a digital compass. The luggage compartment holds tools, a spare tire and a fire extinguisher.TECHNICALA joy to drive: the original 2.9-liter 6-cylinder inline engine produces a wonderful sound and is controlled by the manual transmission, which was overhauled about 4 years ago. The overdrive provides a pleasant "5th gear. The engine consumes no oil, is well tuned and does not suffer from heat. Many technical upgrades have been performed including: Koni shock absorbers, special brakes, twice an electric fuel pump, Weber carburetors, a stainless steel exhaust, a spaghetti manifold, a special intake manifold, electric ignition and a new type of alternator. The 15-inch rims have good Goodyear 4-season tires. The car drives very well, so whether used for rallying, touring or vacationing, this MG is ideally suited. ALGEMENTPower, Class and Character in an Iconic Roadster: The MG C was the first high-performance version of the legendary MGB – a car that from its very first design was intended to combine sportiness and power. The MG B V8 followed later, in 1973. Where the MGB was known for its agility, the MGC added pure muscle and refined engineering. At first glance, the MGC closely resembles its famous brother, the MGB. Yet the characteristic convex hood with chrome crossbar betrays that something special lurks here. Also, the larger 15” wheels give it a tougher and more powerful appearance. Inside, the subtle differences can be found in details such as the 140 mp/h speedometer and tachometer with a modified scale – a subtle hint at the extra power under the hood. And there lies the heart of this sporty Brit: an impressive 2.9-liter BMC C-series 6-cylinder engine, derived from the one in the Austin Healey 3000. This powerplant provided a smooth, robust driving experience and required an entirely redesigned torsion front suspension and improved braking system. The reinforced gearbox with full synchromesh and optional overdrive provided effortless shifting – technology that even later found its way into the MGB. Although early test drives due to incorrect tire pressure unfairly damaged the MGC's reputation, the model was soon refined and improved. Yet production remained limited: only just over 9,000 left the factory before production ceased in 1969 – making the MGC a rare and sought-after collector's item today. The MGC combines the timeless design of the MGB with the power of a six-cylinder – a unique blend of classic British elegance and sporting performance that more than earns its place in automotive history.MG C Roadster Overdrive 1968- Body-off restoration- Rally prepared- Easy to drive in two modes (rally or standard)- Polyester hardtop- Luxurious fabric soft top- Many technical updates- Extensive documentation- 2.9-litre 6-cylinder engine- Rare: only 4,542 MG C Roadsters were built- Owned by the same owner for almost 20 yearsHISTORY/DOCUMENTATIONThis MG C Roadster began its life on July 18, 1968 in the United States.
