The 1983 Mini 1000 HLE Mayfair is a charming classic with a remarkable Dutch history. This Mini was purchased new by a garage owner as a car for his wife and was sold after 11 years to its second owner, who cherished the car as his first vehicle. During his ownership, the Mini made impressive trips, such as to Monaco, and received a striking upgrade: a stage 3 tuned 1300 engine from an MG Metro, carefully built in collaboration with the specialists at Blom. The upgrades included a modified crankshaft, camshafts, tappets, a light flywheel, and an improved intake and exhaust system, giving this Mini considerably more power than the original 41 hp.
After years of service, the Mini was stored in a dry garage since 2000. In 2023, the car came back into the spotlight and was completely overhauled to earn its place back on the road. Extensive maintenance has been carried out, including a renewed braking system, replacement of the clutch cylinder, spark plugs, ignition coil, oil and filters, and a cleaned carburettor. In addition, new tyres, ball joints, a fuel filter and a battery have been fitted. With a valid MOT until July 2026, this Mini is once again fully roadworthy and ready for new adventures.
The HLE Mayfair version has always been one of the more luxurious variants of the Mini, but this particular car stands out for its character and unique engine upgrades. The driving pleasure is enhanced by the powerful performance and enchanting engine sound above 3,000 rpm, which puts a smile on every driver's face.
