The stylistic imprint is unmistakable, but the Countryman is larger than the "classic" Mini (even if its length, 411 cm, remains that of a small car), has five doors, and allows even those in the two rear seats to travel in comfort. The raised bodywork and plastic wheel arch protectors are inspired by SUVs, but the ground clearance of only 15 cm means that it can only handle easy dirt roads at best: this crossover is designed for asphalt, and this is evident in the bends, where it proves to be agile and responsive to precise and direct steering. The 143 hp 2.0 diesel engine from BMW is quite lively. Those who often drive in the mountains should bear in mind that this engine, combined with ALL4 all-wheel drive, makes all the difference in snow and on slippery surfaces.
Well finished and full of original solutions, the interior offers raised seats as you would expect from a crossover. The large speedometer in the center of the dashboard is typical. The interior is suitable for four adults, with no sacrifices even for those in the back; you can also choose between a sofa and separate rear seats. The trunk is anything but small.
