Introducing the 1967 Innocenti Mini MK1
Straight from the sun-drenched landscapes of Italy, this early Innocenti Mini is a remarkable piece of automotive history. Discovered in the Apennines, just south of Rome, alongside its sibling, the White Mini MK1 1967 rally spec, this Mini had just received a fresh coat of paint when we found her. The exterior and interior are fully painted with original PPG paint in the striking “verde medio” color, showcasing a flawless finish.
What sets this beautifully restored Mini apart is its faithfully preserved original flooring from 1967, a testament to its well-preserved history. The interior has been lovingly renewed with tobacco-colored leather seats, transporting you back in time. Additionally, the flooring has been refreshed, and the entire car has undergone a thorough cleanup.
One distinctive feature that sets this Mini apart is its hydrolastic suspension, a nod to the Citroën DS. This exceptionally smooth suspension adds a touch of magic to the driving experience. Originally intended for the Mini Classic, it was replaced by rubber suspension in later models.
Under the bonnet, you’ll find the original 850cc engine paired with a ‘magic wand shifter,’ also known as the ‘long lever.’ This combination embodies the true spirit of the Mini Classic, providing plenty of power to keep up with modern traffic while maintaining the original character.
We’ve ensured that this classic beauty meets modern standards through a comprehensive inspection and replacement of essential components like bearings, brakes, ignition, and rubbers. With a complete service history dating back to its original purchase in 1967, you can trust its impeccable maintenance. Plus, the original Innocenti Mini Minor 850 Manual is included with the car.
Why Innocenti?
This iconic Mini was born in response to the demands of the Italian taxman in the 1950s. Italian government customs duties on car imports led to a surge in prices, sparking a demand for locally crafted cars. It was during this time that Innocenti seized the opportunity. The BMC-Innocenti agreement in 1959 granted Innocenti the license to manufacture British Leyland cars in Milan, Italy. Innocenti Mini’s were built from 1965 to 1975, and this 1967 model is a true testament to that era.
