Rebuilt Engine, Gearbox
Constructed by the renowned Cavallino team as a “works” racecar with a huge budget from Mitsubishi in The Netherlands. Mitsubishi hired the services of Dutch Race-car designer Wiet Huidekoper who’s Porsche GT1’s had just won Le Mans and who was made responsible for the concept design, the engineering of suspension, chassis, roll cage and aerodynamics.
The Carisma was the only car to really “bite” at the heels of the much more powerful 2 Litre BMW 320’s and frequently outperformed them. Tim Coronel & Allard Kalff both drove Cavallino cars in the Dutch Touring Car Championship and achieved a string of podium finishes in 1999 and 2000.
By the end of 2000 CAV-005 was sold to the UK where it participated in the production division of the 2001 and 2002 BTCC. Recently the engine and gearbox were completely rebuilt, and the car was brought back to its original 1999 livery. The car comes with many period documents, set up sheets, invoices, homologation forms, certificates, and parts.
