The Morris Eight is a small family car produced by Morris Motors from 1935 to 1948. It was inspired by the sales success of the Ford Model Y, the styling of which was closely followed by the Eight.
The car's success enabled Morris to regain its position as Britain's largest car manufacturer.
The car was powered by a Morris UB series 918 cc four-cylinder sidevalve engine with a triple-bearing crankshaft and a single SU carburettor, producing a maximum power of 23.5 bhp (17.5 kW).
The gearbox was a three-speed, with synchromesh on the top two gears, and Lockheed hydraulic brakes.
Coil ignition was used with a Lucas electrical system, fed by a 6-volt battery and a third-brush dynamo.
The body, which was either a saloon or an open tourer, was mounted on a separate channel section chassis with a wheelbase of 2.29 m.
The Series I designation was used from June 1935, in line with other Morris models. Cars made before this time are known as pre-series, although the official designation from Morris Motors was by model year (35), even though they were not introduced until October 1934.
The Morris Eight offered here is therefore a so-called, pre-series. The car was delivered new in June 1935 and is a Sliding Head.
From 1986 to 2025, the Morris has had only 1 owner, who extensively restored the car during the first 2 years. In 1988 the restoration was completed and the Morris was registered on a Dutch license plate.
In recent years the car has been in storage, put away while driving and needs to be started up again.
New battery has already been installed, car has spark and is getting petrol. Goes very well, does not start yet, probably new petrol and new spark plugs.
The car comes with a Dutch registration, for our international customers we can deliver the Morris with the correct export documents.
