The Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight was a full-size vehicle introduced in 1941 and continued in production until 1996 with only one brake during that time period while efforts were switched to production of military equipment during World War II. The 98 had been formerly known as the Series 90.

In 1947, Oldsmobile sold approximately 194,000 automobiles. Just 3,940 were Series 98 convertibles. Very few of these stylish and mechanically sophisticated automobiles remain intact today.

Standard equipment for 1947 included spare wheel a tire, an electric clock, safety glass, dual horns, cigarette lighter, a solenoid starter system and a vacuum booster pump. The numbers sold peaked at a record high of 37,140 models sold in 1947.

The 98 was the top of the line offering for Oldsmobile.
