Description

Opel Ascona B 1900 – A True Time Capsule from 1978

This Opel Ascona is truly a window into the past — a time machine on wheels that immediately transports you back to the 1970s, when thick sweaters and corduroy trousers were in fashion and Rolling Stones albums were flying off the shelves.

This Ascona is not just well preserved; it is original. It is not a restored or rebuilt classic. On the contrary, this orange Ascona with fabric upholstery in a gray, orange, and black pattern looks as if it has just rolled out of a dealership in 1978 — fresh, crisp, and virtually like new. The original door cards are intact, with no holes for speakers and no tears, and it retains its original steering wheel. All of this clearly reflects the care and attention with which the car has been looked after throughout its life. It comes with the original owner’s manuals and service book, complete with Opel stamps.

Fitted with new lights, and with the braking and cooling systems fully overhauled, the radiator has a new core as well as all new hoses. A full service has just been completed; it needs nothing at all — just to be driven.

Special History

Delivered new in 1978 in Germany to its first owner, a Portuguese gentleman who treated it throughout his life as a true family heirloom. Both the first and second owners cared for this Ascona with great attention and respect, resulting in a car that today presents itself in excellent condition. I am the third owner.

Mechanically, under the bonnet is Opel’s reliable 1.9-liter engine. The engine runs very smoothly, the gearbox shifts precisely, and the brakes perform flawlessly. Nothing to point out.

This Ascona B 1900 is certified by the Caramulo Museum, a rare example that proudly displays its originality. It is currently fitted with ATS alloy wheels, but the original wheels and center caps are included and stored.

For a collector, this is an unmissable addition. For the enthusiast who wants to experience what it was like to drive a brand-new Ascona in 1978, this is a unique opportunity.

With 97,000 kilometers, interior and paintwork in excellent condition, and absolutely no rust, this Opel Ascona B represents a rare opportunity to acquire a truly authentic classic.
