Description

Gateway classic cars of Nashville is proud to digitally present this incredible, 1936 Packard 1401 Rumble seat senior series.

This 1936 Packard 1401 Rumble seat is painted a classic butternut yellow and looks regal. Art deco on wheels! Everywhere you look you find subtle touches that so the cars refinement and class. This is no ride to the Piggly wiggly for the week's worth of hash and tuna fish. The doors on this car should never open unless you and your lady are in your finest complete with top hat, tails, spats and a walking stick with silver tips. Class and elegance are the two words I would use for this car and if I had to choose a third it would be, big! This is not a small car! This car is rumored to have been originally purchased in 1936 in Beverly Hills CA and that makes sense, since it would have required a large bank account in that day to purchase such a car. The story that has been passed down with this car is that it was a gift to Carol Lombard prior to wedding Clark Gable, but frankly I don't give a care about that! The story continues, Next in line was a Naval Captain who took the car to his port At Pearl Harbor and was there December the 12th 1946 and survived, despite the fact that it is almost the same size as a battle ship. This Beautiful car has been lovingly cared for all these years and in 1999 the drive train was meticulously rebuilt. The 320 Cubic inch straight 8's crankshaft was sent to one of the few remaining machine shops capable of turning a Crankshaft this large. Dutcher engineering handled the rebuild of the lower end and the current owner had help with slowly putting this work of art together. The transmission was inspected and new clutch pressure plate and throw out bearing where bolted on. Generator, starter and water pump, all rebuilt, not replaced as was the Stromberg Carburetor. This is a serious car and I know I have poked fun during this and for that I apologize.

This 1936 Packard does not apologize and has no need to! Options for this 1936 Packard 1401 Rumble seat include: Dual side mount spare tires, Vacuum assist power brakes, Bijur Chassis lube, Leatherette interior, Wire rims, Wide white wall bias ply tires and instant class as soon as you slide behind the steering wheel.
