Description

Manufacturer: Classic Park, Koppenhoefstraat 14, 5283VK Boxtel, NL Phone: 0411605000 Website: http://www.classicpark.nl Email: [email protected] We love collectibles like this Paige: original cars in incredibly good condition that are ready to drive. Cars that still showcase their top-class quality a hundred years after production. This Paige is special for several reasons. It is the largest model Paige ever produced: the 6-70 Sedan. The engine is a large 5.4-liter six-cylinder that delivers plenty of torque and, for its time, a generous 70 horsepower. Despite being 100 years old, this car can easily keep up with today’s traffic. Over 100 years old, this Paige has never been restored. The body is still largely covered in its original paint, with touch-ups in places to preserve its authentic appearance. The interior features the original headliner, wood floorboards, carpet, and the “leatherette” on the roof and running boards. It is equipped with a still-functioning switchable compressor connected to the transmission for inflating tires in case of a flat. To ensure proper preservation, all the nickel trim was redone in England by Genius of the Lamp, a costly undertaking. The original brochure indicates that the Sedan comes standard with a fuel gauge, clock, front cigarette lighter, sun visor, heater, and exit light above the rear right running board. All these features are present on this Paige. The interior also includes a smoking kit in the rear for gentlemen and a vanity kit for ladies. The “De Luxe” option package, which includes dual front and rear bumpers, a chrome-plated radiator topped with a Motometer temperature gauge, two spare wheels with covers on the front left and right, a rear luggage rack, automatic windshield wipers, and a brake light and taillight, is equipped on this car. In October 2008, a Dutch owner purchased the car in the U.S. from the previous owner who had owned it since 1968. The Paige was registered in the Netherlands on May 11, 2011. Between 2008 and 2011, major maintenance and preservation projects were carried out, including new tires, repainting the steel wheel rims in the original color, and treating the original wooden wheel centers with linseed oil. The exhaust system was replaced with a precise replica, the gas tank was ultrasonically cleaned and recoated, and the alternator was fitted with a new bronze backing plate. The radiator was disassembled and cleaned, and the oil pan was removed, reinstalled with a new gasket, and the bronze oil pump was restored. Period-correct turn signals were added, and the original windshield wiper motor was repaired after being found defective. In 2022, the car underwent a major service, including new hoses, spark plugs, a drive belt, and a new battery. This rare and unique Paige Detroit 670, with its remarkable history and curiosities, is an excellent addition to any collection. It offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for enthusiasts to enjoy a century-old limousine. Wherever you take a step back 100 years in time, this Paige is a welcome guest.
