This 1957 Plymouth Belvedere Convertible is a beautifully restored, Mopar convertible that is ready to become your nexts 50s cruiser. In 1954, Plymouth shifted the Belvedere nameplate from a mere pillarless hardtop body style and introduced the Belvedere now as its own separate model. For the better part of the rest of the decade, the Belvedere was the highest trimmed model for the Chrysler marque and was a status symbol for the Plymouth faithful. In 1957, like all of the cars in Plymouth's lineup, the Belvedere was completely redesigned with an all new, modernized style. The entire front end had a whole new look, including a brand new aluminum grille, a new curvy bumper design, and a quad front lighting setup. The side silhuoutte was also completely reworked with a more refined trim running from nose to tail, and perhaps most notably and similar to nearly every automaker in 1957, the addition of much larger tailfins in the rear. The rear end treatment saw a completely new style that featured a new-look bumper and a much larger and new-look taillight design that completed the brand new '57 Belvedere. The interiors were also redesigned with a similar inclination towards a more modern looking style. The instrument clusters were adorned with gorgeous trim, looking like they came out of either a racecar or airplane of the day. The steering wheel also featured a gorgeous space-age look as well. Plymouth's 1957 redesign greatly assisted the Mopar marque in achieving massive sales success and reclaimed its position as America's third-largest automobile producer. While Plymouth sold thousands of cars in 1957, a mere 9,866 Belvedere Convertibles were produced which makes this particular example quite a rare piece of automotive history. Powering this '57 Belvedere Convertible is a 299.6 Cubic Inch "301" V8 fed by a single 2 barrel carburetor that together were said to have created 215 horsepower when new. Exhaust exits this Plymouth's V8 powerplant via a dual exhaust setup that generates a wonderful throaty sound out the rear. The "301" V8 is backed by a PowerFlite Automatic Transmission that is shifted into gear via the futuristic Push-Button Shifter. Riding on a set of wide whitewall bias-ply tires mounted on steel wheels and accented with full chrome chrome wheelcovers, this 1957 Plymouth Convertible has a fantastic look whether cruising down the road or parked at the local car show or ice cream parlor. Mounted atop the front fender is a driver's side chrome outside mirror that is a great help when trying to squeeze into a tight parking space.
