It was 1958 and at this time the Porsche 356 was beginning to show itself to be less competitive in speed events but it still had a strong presence in Rallies, particularly through the participation of enthusiasts who often dominated the category up to 1600 cc with their Porsche 356 A Super.

The vehicle we present, a Porsche 356 A 1600 Super, had a great record in Portuguese motor racing events in the 50s and 60s. Owned by João de Castro, a great enthusiast and regular participant in this type of event, it took part in the IX Grande Volta a Portugal, a race organised by the Clube 100 à Hora which took place between 6 and 9 February 1958. This model had chassis number 57942 and received the registration number DD-41-05.

This is one of several Porsche 356s that this enthusiast used for sports purposes during the 1950s, a circumstance that made him one of the main people responsible for promoting and establishing the Porsche brand in Portugal.

The engine has 150 kilometers after being completely rebuilt, with receipts to prove it from a Porsche specialist.
