In 1963, Porsche launched the successor to the 356 onto the market, then still with the model designation 901, but that was soon to change to 911.
This created the most iconic sports car model ever in history.
Over the course of the years, the model range was extended. Apart from the 'basic' 911 with a powerful 2.0 L 6-cylinder engine - good for 130 hp - several versions became available.
The standard 'T' (110 hp), the comfort model 'E' (155 hp) or the Super 'S' (160 hp).
In the following years, the engine capacity grew from 2.0 to 2.2 and 2.4 litres and the power increased every time. 125 or 130 hp for the 911T, 165 hp for the ‘E’ and 170, 180 or 190 hp for the 911 Super.
In 1967, the Targa was introduced to the market as a 'safety cabriolet' with a permanently mounted roll bar and removable soft-top. In this version, Porsche combined the feeling of a convertible with the security of a roll bar. The first types - called 'soft window' - had a removable plastic rear window, but from 1969 the models came with a fixed glass rear window. The wheelbase was extended in the same model year, resulting in improved driving comfort.
‘Collection by Vermant' is pleased to be able to offer you this special Porsche 911S long wheel base Targa from 1970. It is a version of the so-called 'F model', equipped with its matching numbers 2.2 L powerful 6-cylinder engine, good for 180 hp.
The car was delivered new on April 24 in Colorado, USA in Burgundy Red with a black leather interior. In addition, the car was equipped with tinted windows, a manual antenna and loudspeakers.
Recently this iconic car underwent a metamorphosis, with the 'S' being completely stripped and provided with a new layer of paint to the original specifications, new seals, interior, ... The basis was already a dream, as it was a very beautiful, clean and healthy car! A small metal plate had to be replaced in just one place, under the front window. The rest of the body was completely rust-free, quite exceptional for a classic of this age!
The technical parts were also completely checked over and renewed, where necessary.
The engine underwent a major service, the fuel distribution and injection system were adjusted, the entire exhaust system was replaced, a new clutch set was installed and the gear shift mechanism was replaced. The fuel tank and pipes were also renewed, together with a revision of the brakes and suspension. This all makes this very fast classic car even better to drive.
Of course, this 911S is also equipped with its original tool kit and booklets.
