Description

The Porsche 911 T 2.4 Clappertop belongs to the early generations of the 911, which underwent a significant phase of development in the early 1970s. For the 1972 model year, Porsche introduced the 2.4-liter model to the 911 lineup, with the T version serving as the entry-level model in the range. The 911 T was intended to be a more accessible model, but it retained the rear-mounted six-cylinder boxer engine and the characteristic technical layout of the 911 family.

For the 1972 model year, the term “Ölklappe” is relevant—a name that refers to the unique oil tank filling solution used in early 911 models. This detail was modified over the course of production, giving models from this brief period a special place among enthusiasts. The Porsche 911 T 2.4 was introduced at a time when Porsche was further refining the 911 with increased displacement and ongoing development of the chassis and powertrain, while the car essentially retained its original concept.

At the time, the 911 T was offered alongside the E and S models, with the T—as the least powerful variant—playing a key role in building sales of the 911 series. Within the historical context, the early 2.4-liter generation is particularly interesting due to its combination of transitional design elements, limited production run, and the 911’s further evolution toward later models. The Porsche 911 T 2.4 Ölklappe is thus a representative example of the early years of this model type.

This Porsche 911 T 2.4 Clap has been fully converted to 2.7 RS style. As part of this conversion, the carburetors were replaced with an electronically controlled fuel injection system. The car is also equipped with air conditioning. Furthermore, the engine and transmission have been overhauled, and the transmission has been fitted with a short-shift mechanism.

More than €61,000 was spent on the car to bring it to this technical condition. Most of the work was performed when the odometer reading was between 37,000 and 39,000 kilometers. At 48,500 kilometers, the Porsche 911 T 2.4 Ölklappe was serviced by Porsche specialist Rennsport. The car was recently fitted with new Michelin sport tires. Invoices for the work are available. The car was imported to the Netherlands and registered with a Dutch license plate.

The 1972 Porsche 911 T 2.4 Ölklappe is an early 911 from the distinctive oil-inlet era, here in 2.7 RS style and featuring various technical modifications. The car has a rebuilt engine and transmission, fuel injection, air conditioning, and has been serviced by a Porsche specialist. To get a good idea of the lot, we recommend that you attend the viewing day.
