Description

Mechanical Fuel Injection, abbreviated MFI, are the three letters that make the 911 Carrera introduced in 1974 so special. This mechanical injection gives this former top model the driving sensation that the successive cars with electronic injection lack. The impressive engine sound and the direct accelerator pedal response, in combination with the low weight (1075 kg) make the Carrera a Supercar with ditto performance. In 5.5 sec. going from zero to one hundred was sensationally fast at the time. The specifications of the 911 Carrera 2.7 are therefore very close to those of the considerably more expensive '73 Carrera RS. Just like the RS, this very limited-built Carrera has wide rear fenders to increase the rear track width, of course to improve handling. Interesting to mention is that after 1976 Porsche only applied mechanical injection in its racing cars. Emission requirements from the US oblige Porsche to switch to electronic injection. This fact, and the very limited edition, makes the 2.7 Carrera a collectible car. Such a 911 must meet a number of conditions; originality, history, technical condition and damage/stainless are keywords when purchasing such a car. The example offered here naturally meets the requirements of a discerning buyer. Delivered new in February 1974 to an Italian shoe designer, reflected in the special color choice, and currently from the second owner. Always remained damage and rust free, see the detailed photos of the underside. Skillfully painted once in original Peru Rot only for cosmetic reasons. It is a so-called matching numbers example with original engine and gearbox. Service history and invoices for recent maintenance are available. This 911 Carrera drives and performs impressively 'as new', a time machine in Porsche history.
