Description

To celebrate the arrival of the new millennium, Porsche developed a special edition of the 996 Carrera 4 Coupé for the 2000 model year. Production was deliberately limited to just 911 units worldwide—a clear nod to the model that had defined Porsche for decades. The Millennium Edition was significantly more than just a standard Carrera 4 with a special badge. All units were finished in the unique Violet Chromaflair color and featured a carefully curated equipment package that included a lowered sports suspension, 18-inch wheels, Litronic headlights, a power sunroof, and numerous exclusive interior details. Inside, Porsche used Natural Brown leather combined with dark maple wood, aluminum-look instruments, and various additional leather-trimmed components. This gave the interior a completely different look than that of a standard 996. Each car also received an individually numbered Millennium Edition plaque.

This specific example is number 856 of the 911 cars produced in total.

This Porsche 911 Carrera 4 Millennium Edition is equipped with the naturally aspirated 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer engine producing 300 horsepower, paired with the sought-after 6-speed manual transmission. As a Carrera 4, the car features Porsche’s permanent all-wheel drive, which provides extra traction while preserving the characteristic driving feel of the naturally aspirated engine from the early 996 generation. The factory equipment also includes Porsche Stability Management (PSM). Another key feature of this Millennium Edition is the factory-fitted sport suspension. Porsche equipped this special model with a sport suspension lowered by approximately 10 mm, giving the car a slightly sportier stance and more direct handling than a standard Carrera 4.

The car currently has 154,328 kilometers on the odometer.

One of the most distinctive features of the Millennium Edition is the special Violet Chromaflair paint, color code 3C4. This color was exclusive to the Millennium model and changes significantly depending on the angle of the light. Under certain conditions, the color appears almost black or deep violet, while in direct light, green, blue, and purple hues become visible. Porsche offered the Millennium Edition exclusively in this color, making it one of the most recognizable factory specifications of the early 996 generation. The car is equipped with the distinctive 18-inch Turbo-Look alloy wheels in a high-gloss finish. These wheels were a key part of the Millennium Edition’s appearance and set it apart from the standard 17-inch wheels that normally came on the Carrera 4. Additional exterior features include Litronic headlights with headlight washers, a power sunroof, a rear window wiper, power-adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, and a windshield with a heavily tinted upper section. The Millennium Edition also featured a number of subtle model-specific details, including a high-gloss “911” emblem on the rear and chrome-plated stainless steel exhaust tips.

The interior is one of the most distinctive features of the Millennium Edition. Instead of the common black interior found in the 996, Porsche opted for Natural Brown leather combined with dark maple wood for this model. The leather trim extends far beyond just the seats. According to the Millennium specification, this car features leather upholstery on the front and rear seats, leather trim around the instrument cluster, a leather-wrapped steering column, a leather-wrapped rear center console, and various additional leather accents on the dashboard. Dark maple wood is used on several interior components, including the three-spoke sport steering wheel and parts of the door panels. The gearshift and parking brake combine dark wood, aluminum, and leather, giving the Millennium Edition a completely different atmosphere than a standard Carrera 4. The instrument dials feature an aluminum finish, another distinctive detail of this special model. The comfort features are extensive and include power-adjustable comfort seats for the driver and front passenger, heated front seats, lumbar support for the driver, cruise control, air conditioning, an on-board computer, and a power sunroof. The car was also factory-equipped with the Porsche information and navigation system, a digital sound package, and a Porsche CD changer.

A particularly important detail is the original Millennium Edition plaque on the center console. Each of the 911 units was assigned its own individual production number. This specific unit is number 856 out of 911.

This Porsche 911 Millennium Edition was produced on December 7, 1999, for the 2000 model year and was originally delivered new in Germany. The car comes with the original booklets, including the stamped service booklet. It is currently registered in the Netherlands and has a mileage of 154,328 kilometers. This 996 would benefit from a major service, as the last service was performed in 2021.

We can arrange transportation within Europe and worldwide, both open-top and enclosed transport. Full support for export is available, including assistance with documentation and registration procedures if desired.
