Described by Excellence magazine as, “a back-road stormer…with a cult-like following,” the Porsche 914, with its mid-engine design, provided a balanced driving dynamic. KYB gas coilover shocks, a front chin spoiler and rear deck spoiler, lightweight EMPI wheels, and larger 165 R15 TOYO tires further enhance the handling of this 914. Power comes from an air-cooled 1.7L flat-four engine that drives the rear wheels through its 5-speed transmission. From the factory, the engine produced 76 HP and 76 lbs.-ft torque. Linkage that was improved and updated for the 1973 model provides smooth shifting. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by a previous owner. Dual Weber carburetors replaced the original fuel injection.
