Description

This striking 1973 Porsche 914, refinished in custom-blended metallic burnt orange, and complemented by its black vinyl interior, shows only 83,000 miles on the odometer. Described by Excellence magazine as, “a back-road stormer…with a cult-like following,” the Porsche 914, with its mid-engine design, provided a balanced driving dynamic. KYB gas coilover shocks, a front chin spoiler and rear deck spoiler, lightweight EMPI wheels, and larger 165 R15 TOYO tires further enhance the handling of this 914. Originally equipped with dealer installed factory air conditioning, all major components are included with the sale. Restored and maintained by the shop owner for personal use, this 914 is fully updated and serviced.
Black window and body trim, refinished black fiberglass Targa roof, black painted dual side mirrors, black horn grills, and black EMPI 4-lug wheels with TOYO Series 300 tires provide contrast to the metallic burnt orange exterior. Matching painted sails and traditional Porsche badge adorning the front trunk complete the car’s luminescent appearance. An original new-old stock Quad muffler by Abarth contributes to its look as well as its throaty rumble.

The black vinyl interior features a center console with glove box, and functional oil pressure, oil temperature and clock gauges. A Raceway three-spoke steering wheel with a Wolfsburg center crest, upgraded AM/FM radio, and orange/black checkered Coco floor mats are eye-catching additions. The dash is not stretched or cracked. The front and rear trunk areas were stripped and coated with Eastwood's Grey/White trunk paint to ensure a durable finish.

Power comes from an air-cooled 1.7L flat-four engine that drives the rear wheels through its 5-speed transmission. From the factory, the engine produced 76 HP and 76 lbs.-ft torque. Linkage that was improved and updated for the 1973 model provides smooth shifting. The engine was reportedly rebuilt by a previous owner. Dual Weber carburetors replaced the original fuel injection. The clutch was replaced in 2021. An Optima DH6 Yellow Top Dual Purpose Sealed AGM Battery provides starting power.

This 1973 Porsche 914 is located in Pennsylvania and is offered for $28,500. The sale includes a clear title and service records. For more detailed information, please contact John Witmer, owner of AIC Auto Sales, at 771.330.4891.
