Description

1934 Rolls Royce 20/25 Fixed Head Coupe by Barker

Chassis Number: GAF18

First time on the market in decades.  We discovered this beautiful Rolls Royce 20/25 in a deceased estate on the west side of Paris.  The car had a complete restoration by renowned  Parisian classic car specialists LeCoq about a decade ago & has seen little use since.

Bodywork is by Barker in a particularly elegant fixed head coupe design with false pram irons to the roof.  The car featiures in the Dalton Tome "Those elgant Rolls Royce".   It is a particularly well proportioned body with a swooping curve along the waist line.

Exterior paint is grey over black in its original colours.  The fabric roof covering is in perfect order.  To the inside is pale grey leather with matching carpets. Some nice touches are found inside such as the twin perfume bottles to the rear pillar alcoves.

Under the bonnet the car is immaculate.  The engine starts instantly & runs silently exhibiting very strong oil pressure having been fully rebuilt by LeCoq.  The radiator has been recored so the car runs cool when fully warmed & under load.  All large tools are present under the bonnet in their requisite places. The rear boot is capacious enought to take a couple of decent sized suit cases.  There is also provision to mount an additional case on the boot lid on the luggage grid fitted there.  All woodwork has been removed, refinished & re-installed.  A new headlining was also fitted.

This Rolls Royce 20/25 drives beautifully.  The steering is light & pin sharp as a result of the king pins having been done.  The brakes are also sharp with the servo being well adjusted.  The car seems to have a longer axle ration as it is very relaxed at higher modern day speeds.
