Description

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 28th August on Thursday the 28th of August. Background
The original Mini was a revolution on wheels, offering iconic style and space for the masses. It was the fuel crisis-beating 'people's car' that became a fashion icon, synonymous with Britain and the 'Swinging Sixties'. The mechanical genius of the design placed the ubiquitous A-Series engine transversely across the frame, sharing its sump with the gearbox. A rubber cone suspension replaced traditional springs, accentuating the nimble, go-kart-like handling and allowing for 80% of the floorpan to be used by passengers and their luggage.
The Car
This is a remarkable little Rover Mini with a huge story behind it, this car stared on Top Gear in 2019, featuring on Series 27 Episode 1. The first episode of the new line up of Harris, Flintoff and McGuinness, who shortly after became well respected by Top Gear fans.
Harris and new presenters McGuinness and Flintoff are each given a budget of £4,000 and purchase what were their first cars, then taking them on a huge road trip around Ethiopia. What started out a fairly tidy Mini at the start of the trip, ended with it having many battle scars and memories along the way.
The Mini still holds it original registration and the registration it wore on the trip, G771 MDT. The car still runs and drives, although has no MOT as it has been in a private collection.
Overall, this is an amazing opportunity to own a wonderful piece of TV and Top Gear provenance, guided sensibly this would make perfect talking point in any collection.
