In the mid-eighties, the American importer of Saab thought that it would be very attractive if a convertible version of the 900 successful there could be offered, especially in the sunny states of the USA. In Sweden this was not really a priority. Understandable.
And so it happened. Closed 900 versions were shipped to Valmet (a well-known manufacturer in the industry who, for example, built the Boxster for Porsche) in Finland, where they were converted into a convertible. Of course equipped with the necessary reinforcements and other doors to enclose the large sills. This production process made it expensive to build a 900 convertible. Partly as a result of this and the high taxes, the list price of a 900 convertible in the Netherlands was already around fl.100,000 at the time. Almost twice the price of a closed 900. At that time you could also buy an apartment, so the car is been a rare sight in the Netherlands. The model has gained more and more appreciation over the years, and because there are few alternatives, it is now a sought-after car. After all, which convertible offers so much practical space and safety in addition to its fun? They are now always 25 years old, so it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a nice and little used example. I was therefore delighted when recently by chance I found a very nice original specimen in a truly rust-free condition and still undamaged paint, including high gloss. I very rarely see classic 900s with a really low mileage, and certainly not in this condition. The convertible top has been used so little that it is still original. Considering the overall condition 'a museum piece', although enjoying the sun is of course more desirable. Will be delivered including new MOT, warranty and service. The car is now equipped with new tires and converted R134a air conditioning.

This 900 Classic has air conditioning, four electric windows, central locking, anthracite leather, an electrically operated convertible roof including heated rear window, power steering, seat heating, time-correct radio that we can replace for a more modern one if desired, etc.
