Description

1965 Cobra 289 Roadster
Chassis# CSX2545

History: A late production rack and pinion 289 Roadster. Selling new to Downtown Ford in Sacramento, California on 4/29/1965. It was equipped with chrome wire wheels and a chrome roll bar. It was delivered to its first owner, Ronald Michener, of Concord, California. It then goes to Kenny Passerelli, of Denver, Colorado. Passerelli was the bass player for Elton John and because of his tour/travel schedule, he rarely drove the car. One point of interest here, is that from 1980 forward, for 40 years, CSX2545 was in the care of noted Cobra expert Bill Murray. Murray, who worked at the Shelby Museum in Boulder, Colorado, was one of the country’s premiere Cobra experts. A complete original Cobra with no accidents, a true survivor. Was completely restored by Bill Murray in 2018. This was the last Cobra Murray restored, as he then retired. The car was displayed in the Shelby Museum for some time before selling. All owners are known from new.

Condition: A complete, original car with no accidents and well cared for, restored by Bill Murray in 2018. Still retaining its original body and frame, with the frame stamping and original chassis ID tag. The trunk and engine bay still retain their original alloy panels. “NO” reproduction or replacement parts were used in the restoration. Original parts were refurbished. The chassis number stampings are on the latches. It is equipped with wire wheels, soft top, side curtains, tools, jack and grease gun. Stunning in black with wire wheels. One of the most comprehensive and correct restorations of any Cobra. Ready to enter in a concours or drive on the Cobra Tour.

Includes: Shelby sales invoice, known ownership, restoration records with photographs. Soft top, side curtains, jack, grease gun.

Of Note: One of the best original Cobra 289 Roadsters. Restored by a noted Cobra expert. Was on display at the Shelby Museum.
