Description

For SIMCA in Nanterre / France, the equation "beauty + performance = sales success" meant in the mid-1960s and so the sporty SIMCA 1000 Coupé 1967 became the sporty SIMCA 1200 S Bertone Coupé. Giorgio Giugiaro drew this icon for Bertone, which has not lost its charm to this day. The special feature of this coupé is that the engine is built in the longitudinal direction at the rear. Combined with its "X-legs" with 3 degrees negative fall, this coupé was almost completely expelled from the otherwise typical rear slingshot manners.

The bumper engine with the side-facing camshaft and two carburetors is a good high-performance motor. Combined with the very low unladen weight, this SIMCA offered truly outstanding sports car performance. Surprising is the interior conditions. There is plenty of room for large people. The instrumentation is sporty and sufficient and, like the entire interior, of high quality.

This vehicle offered here was first registered in Austria on 10.07.1968 as one of the first 1200 S. The original individual permit from Austria, as well as the entire history of this vehicle, is available. Many of these SIMCA 1200 S was used as a basis for motorsports use. So did this "fighting dwarf". Currently, 175/50 R 13 Yokohama are mounted and convey a powerful appearance, coupled with sufficient grip. The engine is drilled and using fine sports ingredients the power has been increased to about 130 hp. Of course, the chassis and the braking system are adapted accordingly. Stainless steel sports exhaust, OMP sports seats, cage, trip master, additional instruments, sports steering wheel complete the package. There is also another already set with semi-slick.

The original FIA Historic Vehicle Identity Form is also available. It is confirmed that this SIMCA participated in the Ennstal Rallye, Spring Rally, and It. Hill Claim Rally in Stainz as early as 1971. In addition, over the years there have been further assignments at Bavaria Historic, Styria Historic, several times the famous San Remo Rallye, Du Var, Rechberg Mountain Race. All assignments are lovingly documented, partly by stickers on the vehicle, or by entries in the FIA Pass.

The body is not flawless, but the technique is on point and very impressive. The perfect vehicle for the friend of rare and very sympathetic sporty racing cars. Not for people with weak nerves, rather for contemporaries with gasoline in their blood.
