Description

This splendid TR4A was delivered new in the USA (Baltimore, Maryland). It was later exported to Denmark, where the bodywork, chassis, and interior were comprehensively restored in 2018–2019. On 27 September 2019 the car was imported into Belgium by the current owner. Further restoration and mechanical overhauls were carried out in 2020 by classic‑car specialist Noyen Class BV. The engine was rebuilt, the electrics overhauled, and a new wiring loom installed. All rubbers were renewed, and the car received an oil cooler, electronic ignition, and a new exhaust system.

Later in 2020 the TR4A was prepared for historic (regularity) rally use. The suspension was upgraded, rally instruments were fitted (Belmog 300 Classic tripmeter with remote control and a Big Digit rally timer), and additional front driving lamps were installed. In 2021 an overdrive unit was added. The wire wheels were subsequently refinished in body colour and fitted with new Vredestein classic tyres. Since 2020, just under €30,000 has been invested to bring the car to its current top condition.

Surrey top
A particularly desirable feature is the original Surrey top. This consists of three elements: the rear section with window fixed to the rear deck, a metal roof panel, and a foldable vinyl roof panel. The Surrey top famously inspired Porsche’s later 911 Targa design. Unlike the Targa, however, the Surrey arrangement allows the metal panel to be removed and replaced with a fully retractable soft‑top. A soft‑top frame and the metal roof panel accompany the car in unrestored condition.

Matching colours
This Triumph TR4A, first registered on May 25, 1966, is an example with matching numbers and matching colours, confirmed by its accompanying Heritage Certificate. She is finished in dark blue (Royal Blue) with matching dark blue painted wire wheels, it presents beautifully. The interior is trimmed in black faux leather with black bucket seats and dark blue carpeting; the original black leather seats are included separately.

This striking Triumph TR4A drives and sounds perfectly and is ready to take part in historic regularity events. It is offered with a complete history file and full documentation. This is a magnificent TR4A in a superb colour scheme and equipped with many desirable options!
