Restoring without welding…Everyone who has ever handled a rusty restoration object knows how much worry, time and money is involved before everything is like new again. So as a starting point, you should always buy the best car available. This is especially true for the bodywork, as this can involve unexpected and costly repair hours. The owner of this beautiful 1972 Triumph TR6 saw that very well at the time. It was a normally drivable car, but one that required restoration. That was carried out from 2006-2007. The biggest pluses were the immaculate body and chassis which did not require any welding equipment. Super unique of course, and entirely due to the conditions in which the car had been until then, namely the dry climate of American California. That the TR6 16 years after restoration still looks so beautiful, says enough about the quality of restoration, but certainly also of the condition the car was in before it came from America to the Netherlands. The tight body is well in the very nice and chic looking paint, called Mallard Green, or sometimes Mallard Blue. This, because sometimes both a green and blue tint can be seen, depending on how the light falls on it. This particular and very rare color already makes this TR6 unique in appearance. The underside also looks great. Take a look at the photo report. Only a very lightly applied anti-corrosion coating provides adequate protection and all the original welds and welding points are still clearly visible. This is how we like to see it. Nothing hidden under greasy tectyl, but just clearly show the authenticity and to properly observe the state of chassis and sheet metal. In the classic interior is a leading role for the beautiful wooden dashboard. British to the extreme, and finished with beautiful polished wood and chrome accents. A pure pleasure to sit behind the, also wooden, Moto Lita steering wheel to look out. And of course there is no wear to, or cracks in, seat and door trim or dash top. Really everything is in wonderful condition.Technically, of course, the TR6 was also very extensively taken care of at the time. Originally there was a gearbox installed without overdrive, but connoisseurs know that this is a very welcome addition. So the owner bought and fitted a completely overhauled gearbox with overdrive in England. A wonderful and comfort-enhancing option, because with overdrive engaged the revs quickly drop about’s 600 rpm. This gives more peace of mind at higher speeds and, of course, better fuel economy. All technology works well and, partly due to regular maintenance, nothing needs to be done. Obviously, several invoices testify to this. Some options complete the car, where the already mentioned overdrive is an important item, and the 72-spoke chrome wire wheels, trunk rack, wooden Moto Lita steering wheel, tonneau cover, stainless steel exhaust system, K&N air filters, aluminum valve cover, and the adjustable Spax rear shock absorbers are a nice addition. From its restoration, the car was owned by ééone Dutch owner who, after long doubts about whether to part with it, has asked us to find a new “care taker” for it. That would have to be someone who could at least match the previous owner's good care for the TR. The car certainly deserves that.Find a new owner must surely succeed, because the condition and appearance of the car is truly unique.TECHNICAL INFORMATIONEngine: 6 cylinder inline engineCarburation: 2 x SU carburetorPower: 2498 cc.Power: 106 hp. at 5500 rpm.Top speed: 185 km/hWeight: 1092 kgSpeed gearbox: 4-speed transmission with overdriveOPTIONS & ACCESSORIESMallard Green paintClassic radioOverdrive72-spoke chrome wire rimsMain power switchCase rackWooden Moto Lita steering wheelTonneau coverRVS exhaust systemK&N air filtersAluminum valve coverAdjustable Spax rear shock absorbers
