Gateway Classic Cars of Orlando proud to present this 1987 Volkswagen GTI
This GTI has 89,830 actual miles on it. It is powered by a 1.8l SOHC Turbo with a 5-speed manual transmission. The VW Rabbit GTI introduced the world to the hot hatch, and Callaway Cars were quick to make turbo kits and also the venerable Callaway GTI. Callaway GTI's wore BBS body kits, road and steering wheels along with the Stage 2 Turbo⦠they're pricey and almost all gone now. Not to be outdone, APS / Neuspeed custom-built a brand new GTI with a European flair: Hella body kit, MOMO road, and steering wheels then they threw in Neuspeed sway bar / lowering springs / Koni adjustable struts and, of course, a Stage 2 Callaway Turbo.

Now with just 87k miles, the car has undergone few, but tasteful, upgrades: 280mm (11") big brake kit (from Corrado G60) and G-grind forced induction cam. The turbocharger has been rebuilt and the car builds boost immediately off idle and attains 8psi by 3,000rpm. New timing and accessory belts, new Callaway Microfueler injector, ice-cold A/C, brakes bled with every oil change. The Koni adjustable struts have been replaced and the car has always been well kept and maintained. The car is all original, but with an overall repaint in 1996; the underbody is very solid and rust-free throughout. The original MOMO road and steering wheels show age but are solid and functional. This is a fun, one-of-a-kind, eye-catcher that was once the king of the stoplight, dragstrip, auto crossing and is ready to take you back to the glory days of the sleeper hot hatch.
