The order from Volkswagen to body builder Karmann from Osnabrück, to build a stylish and elegant car for Volkswagen, has resulted in the Karmann Ghia. Karmann turned to the Italian design agency Ghia from Turin for the design of a sports car. Ghia had already made a design for the American automobile manufacturer Chrysler in 1953. However, this was never used. The design was adapted so that the model fit on a slightly widened bottom plate of a Volkswagen Beetle. From November 1, 1957, a convertible version was built. This beautiful convertible was sold new in the USA, the largest export market for Volkswagen at the time. The Cabriolet has a beautiful color combination, completely in keeping with the 1970s style. This Karmann Ghia has the sleek, smaller bumpers that further emphasize the beautiful round shapes of this Volkswagen. The interior has beige upholstery and is in a beautiful, original condition.
