Description

4234-PHX 1973 VOLKSWAGEN KARMANN GHIA CONVERTIBLE

Handcrafted with Italian design flair, the 1973 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Convertible wears a vibrant red finish that highlights its sculpted panels and graceful curves. Aftermarket 15" aluminum wheels add a custom look to the classic profile. The tan canvas top folds down for open-air motoring when weather permits and creates a nice contrast against the red exterior. Each wheel gets wrapped with 165/80R15 Nitto tires that grip the road while maintaining the authentic VW road feel and handling characteristics.

Black vinyl covers the interior surfaces, offering both durability and period-correct aesthetics. Four bucket seats welcome passengers inside the cabin, with the main controls within easy reach of the driver position. An SS steering wheel offers improved grip during cornering maneuvers. Aftermarket tachometers mounted on the steering column display vital engine information. Black carpet runs throughout the interior space, completing the factory-inspired cabin layout while maintaining a clean, uncluttered appearance.

A 1500 CC air-cooled flat-four (claimed to be upgraded to 1776 CC) sits in the rear, fed by dual EMPI 2-barrel carburetors for improved fuel delivery and performance. The 4-speed manual transmission allows for quick gear changes with its floor-mounted shifter. Front disc brakes improve stopping ability compared to the original setup. The suspension employs torsion bars with shocks in front and a swing axle with radius arms and coil springs in back – a combination that handles corners with surprising agility for a car of this vintage.
