Description

Extremely rare and highly sought-after Volkswagen Westfalia Joker T25. Recently restored in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.

100% original Westfalia edition as identified by the vehicle's B434 VIN code prefix and Franz Knöbel & Sohne KG Westfalia-WERKE type plate (216 104 / H 00280). This is a much cherished and remarkably well-preserved example of the marque’s ever-popular modern classic campervan, offered in impressive, highly original condition.

It is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.9-litre water-cooled flat-four (engine/transmission code: DG), producing 78hp and driving the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. This left-hand drive Westfalia Joker was originally a German-delivered model, which was imported and first registered in the UK in November 2003, and has been with the third UK-based owner for 19 years.

In early 2023 the car has been imported in Greece. It now has Greek historic plates and a FIA international accreditation card which further certifies its original condition.

This campervan has been driven and enjoyed as intended, but evidently very well maintained throughout. The odometer now shows 183,004 Kms from new.

EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES
Our Westfalia Joker is finished in white over a grey cloth and half vinyl-trimmed interior with pinstripe seat sections. Its original Westfalia equipment includes a working kitchenette with a two-ring hob and sink, a recently serviced Electrolux original fridge, and various storage cupboards, all finished in white with grey trim. The operation of the car's camping equipment (fridge, kitchenette, sink, sockets etc.) has been tested and everything is in place.

It rides on a set of 14-inch steel wheels with original and very rare ‘Vanagon’ hubcaps, shod in fresh Nankang NK Van CW-25 tyres. The factory specification includes a Reimo fixed high-top roof, double-glazed windows, swivelling front seats with twin adjustable arm rests for each front seat, a rock-and-roll bed, an electricity hook-up, a two-spoke steering wheel, working heater and ventilation controls, a thermometer, an original swivelling tabletop, and a complete set of curtains -all rear, side, and front original curtains were removed and carefully cleaned. A push-up roof window provides excellent air circulation while the Reimo roof provides plenty of storage space and a most desirable private bed for a couple of small children.

This Westfalia Joker will be delivered with a Fiamma bike rack, a dashboard-mounted battery monitor, and an Aiwa radio/USB stereo installation with 2 speakers and handsfree mobile telephone operation. The van comes with some old UK MOT certificates, a list of maintenance invoices, an original waste water pipe and tank, warning triangle, and a rare Haynes manual.

All Original Westfalia owner's manuals are in place, together with a pair of original VW keys (front-side-rear doors, ignition, fuel cap) and another pair of original VW keys for the lockable glovebox.

CONDITION
The car has just been resprayed and the paintwork regained its original L90D off-white shine. All peripheral sills and lower body panels (sliding door sill and lower panel, front & rear wheel arches, rear corner metal panels, left side sills and lower panels) have been replaced with new high quality T25 parts imported from Germany and France. There are numerous photos of the body's restoration work. The underside has also been painted, sprayed with a black protective coating.

The seller is not aware of any mechanical or electrical faults -no warning lights flashing in the dashboard. The car drives extremely well with the known relaxed T25 comfortable ride. This T25 corners with aplomb, brakes safely and proves an easy daily driver thanks to the ultra small turning cycle and the lightness of its controls. The gear lever operates smoothly and the overall driving experience is impressive.

The car will be delivered with a new VEVOR 5KW auxiliary cabin heater system with remote control and Bluetooth operation. This unit has to be installed by the next owner in case of not using the Eberspacher heater -which is currently not operational.

SERVICE HISTORY
The most recent maintenance was carried out at 182,246 Kms in Greece -the jobs included an engine oil and filter change, new air filter and spark plugs, new fuel tank, new clutch pump, and the installation of 2 new strong BOSCH S5007 74AH batteries -one for starting the engine and a second unit for supporting the operation of the van's camping equipment. Many electrical jobs were performed so as to test the correct operation of the camping equipment and the performance of the twin batteries. A new external power supply connector has been installed (MENNEKES 220V/16A, 164x102mm, CEE17 norm) and all interior connectors and fuses were serviced and tested. The auxiliary battery's charger has also been serviced so as to make sure it operates correctly. Contact us for the full list of service jobs.
