This 1971 El Camino has been in continuous garage storage, not driven, since March 2014. In March 2014 I filed Calif DMV Notice of Intention to Suspend Registration and also filed DMV Planned Non Operation Notice. Pictures of the truck show the fully roadworthy driving condition at the time I put it into garage storage in 2014. The odometer shows 28837 miles. The interior dash, door panels and bench seat, column shifter are solid and all OEM. My deceased brother purchased the El Camino in Oxnard, CA. There are disc brakes on the front axle and drum brakes on the rear. I blocked the frame up so no weight was on the tires or wheels. In year 2018 burglars stole the expensive speaker system, 200 watt powered subwoofer, and the tires/wheels were easily removed since I blocked the frame up. The thieves left the wiring system to the speakers. I guess they tried to hot wire the ignition because they damaged the steering column and the ignition switch on the steering column extensively. There is no rust on any panels of the truck. It has not been subject to extensive “Restoration”. The truck has to my knowledge only had the V-8 engine replaced with a 300hp V-8, 4 barrel Holley carburetor, HEI electronic distributor, a paint job with Chev SSR color code U214M Acqua Blur Metallic, radio replaced with Jensen Audio AM/FM Video Player, front plastic grille replaced with Tamraz grille. The rest of the truck is still authentic OEM parts. I have a separate cowl induction hood, never installed, newly painted with same color, that goes with this package.
