This is it! A long-awaited BMW M2 CS, which will be a last hoorah for this generation 2 Series Coupe.
Although the new generation 2 Series Coupe will stay driven by rear wheels, we have a soft spot for this masculine model.
So, what is so special about it? Well, like other BMW CS models: M3 CS and M4, the smaller sibling was built by the same formula - less weight, more power, and more excitement.
New carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) construction for the bonnet cuts its weight by 50%; eye-catching central air vent increases downforce and improves engine cooling; roof made from CFRP.
So, what about the engine? In front, you find 3-litre, twin-turbocharged in-line six. A very familiar unit, which develops more than enough - 450 brake horsepower and 550 Nm of torque.
Like beloved M2 Competition, this new version comes in two transmission flavours: 6-speed manual (hurrah) and 7-speed double-clutch transmission.
If you choose a manual gearbox, which we would love to do, this limited-edition model will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4,2 seconds (if you prefer a double-clutch option – acceleration will take 4 seconds) before you hit 280 km/h top speed. Impressive for such a small car, right?
Just for a moment forget more powerfull engine or dynamic figures. This M2 CS has a lot of perks, which will enrich the driving experience. For example, M2 CS has an Active M Differential and Adaptive M suspension. Also, when you'll need to stop, you will be happy to know M2 CS has a high-performance braking system. It features six-piston callipers and 400 mm discs up front and four-piston callipers and 380 mm discs in the back.
If you're sort of person, who likes to take his car to Sunday Track Day event then you will like this option – an M Carbon Ceramic brakes options, which are being offered on the M2 for the first time.
Created for maximum driving pleasure, this M2 CS will be available in four different colours: Alpine White, Black Sapphire Metallic, Hockenheim Silver Mettalic and our favourite – Misano Blue Metallic.
Also, it's worth to mention that this BMW M2 CS has two very highly desirable features. One of them is a brand new exhaust system, which will annoy your neighbour. We have no doubts about it.
And the second one? Well, you will be happy to know, that M2 CS has bucket-style seats from highly praised BMW M4 CS with integral head restrains featuring BMW M stripes.
And the price? Well, that's a big one. 95 000 € or about 23 000 euros more. Is it worth the premium? For future classic? We think so.
