Description

“We brake for fish” – Land Rover

A car everyone recognizes – and every child can draw without thinking. Over the years, it has grown into a true icon, and rightfully so. The legacy this vehicle has created is enormous. The adventures lived in Defenders will be told for generations to come.

But there’s another side to the story. In today’s cities, you’ll mostly find the latest Defenders parked in upscale neighborhoods, nestled between the espresso bar and the fishmonger, bumper to bumper. Thankfully, the Brits once thought beyond the urban facade. In honor of Land Rover’s 50th anniversary, they released a rare and highly sought-after limited edition in 1998: the Defender 90 V8 50th Anniversary. Only 1,071 units were ever built worldwide, making this a true collector’s Defender. Your move, neighbor.

This particular version was delivered new in the Netherlands, finished in stunning Atlantis Blue metallic, complete with both internal and external roll cages, and—icing on the cake—a factory V8 engine with automatic transmission. Each vehicle is individually numbered; this is number NL 013. Delivered in 1998 and still residing in the Netherlands today. Solid? Absolutely. And it shows in every detail.

Since 2006, maintenance has been performed annually and without compromise by Kroymans Hilversum, fully documented. Notable are the frequent pre-holiday checks—proof that this Defender has, thankfully, ventured out on adventure from time to time.

This Defender begs to be used for what it was made for: don’t hesitate to take that off-road trail. But it would also be perfectly at home as a centerpiece in a serious collection.

The choice is yours.
Wipe it down… or take it out?
