The Car
Registered in France and built in July of 1999, this Defender was delivered by Land Rover France SAS. This early TD5 presents in exceptional original condition. The chassis is immaculate with no previous repairs carried out and retains its original rear crossmember. Being a County specification, it benefits from carpeting throughout, a sunroof, body-colored wheel arches, and alloy freestyle wheels. The vehicle benefits from a large history file full of receipts from current and previous ownership. Mechanically, the vehicle has been maintained meticulously. It recently had two new front tires along with a new spare wheel and new shock absorbers fitted all around. Being a TD5, it drives beautifully with plenty of power and is a seriously usable everyday Defender. This is a notable step up from the 300 TDI predecessor in terms of usability and performance. The Car Vertical report, available to interested bidders, shows no financial encumbrances, history of mileage discrepancies, or accident damage. Finished in the Export Spec classic Alpine White LRC456, complemented by a Techno Twill interior, the vehicle remains in very original and unaltered condition – a rarity in today’s Defender market. It sports a set of factory Freestyle wheels which are part of the County specification package.
Externally, the whole bulkhead is in good condition with no rust in the common locations. The footwells are also original and show no signs of major rust. Having driven some 350 miles in this Defender, we can assure it’s mechanically ready to go and shifts smoothly through all gears without any hesitation. The vehicle has had in excess of €15,000 spent in the last year. Most recently in February 2024, the vehicle received a rebuilt steering box, replacement water pump, gearbox removal and clutch replacement including flywheel and clutch fork. New shock absorbers front and rear, new rear prop shaft, new UJ joints, rear crankshaft seal, and engine pan gasket. The list goes on and on. All work has been carried out by Land Rover specialists with invoices to support it. We can work with buyers to carry out any additional work or to option any specific accessories. The vehicle comes with its European registration document, Heritage Certificate, and a clean Car Vertical report.
