Description

Motodrome offer this adorable 1963 Land Rover Series 2a 88in 2.25 petrol 7 seater, finished in Bronze Green with Limestone roof.

This one underwent a significant rebuild in 2009 by a known specialist, including the fitting of a galvanised chassis, and has covered only around 2500 miles since.

Spec wise it’s about as good as you can get on a Series 2a. It has overdrive (which is relatively quiet), freewheel front hubs, Series 3 gearbox, bonnet with spare wheel mount, 3 deluxe front seats across the front, with inertia reel belts, twin rear benches with lap belts (making it a 7 seater), rear side windows, and towbar.

This one has come from a family of Land Rover enthusiasts, who purchased it from John Craddock in 2008 as a bit of a project. However the decision was taken, in 2009, that it needed a bit more than they could do, so Churchill 4x4 were entrusted with it’s rebuild. Sadly once it was finished, the original owner fell ill and hardly used it before his death, when it passed to his daughter’s family. They have several Land Rovers and this became part of the family, seeing limited but regular use before coming to us.

The near £12000.00 bill from Churchill 4x4 included the following

Galvanised chassis
Galvanised bulkhead
Bodywork resprayed in Bronze Green inside and out, including all new doors and tops.
New window channels
Engine reconditioned with new pistons, rings, main & shell bearings, oil seals and gaskets
Reconditioned Series 3 gearbox
New clutch and hydraulics
Braking system fully rebuilt with new, inc copper pipes
New leaf springs and shocks
New front seats
New fuel tank and exhaust
New wiring loom and fuse box
Negative earth conversion with alternator
Halogen headlamps
Overdrive

Odometer reading 21000 miles, which please bear in mind is unlikely to be correct.

A future-proof, classic Land Rover, this one ticks many boxes
