In 1953 the Fiat 1100 was introduced, a four-door four-seater family car. The car proved to be extremely successful. In the following years, an estate car (“Familiale”), a van, a pickup and a convertible (“Spider”) were added to the model line. In October 1957, a more powerful engine became available and the “1100” model “1200” became available in addition to the “1100”. This significantly improved performance (top speed 140 km/h). In addition to the standard convertible, the Fiat 1100 TV Trasformabile, the 1200 Spider was also introduced in October 1957. This was a two-door roadster with the new 1221 cc engine that was marketed as “1200 Spider”. The design firm Pininfarina had been brought in for the design and is said to have been designed by Luigi Rapi. This 1200 Spider was distinguished by a panoramic windshield, modified bumpers and a new grille. The speedometer had been replaced with one in a strip shape and a new model steering wheel was introduced. A spectacular new feature in this car were the “swiveling seats”, the swiveling front seats that could be swivelled outward to facilitate getting in and out of the car.The Fiat 1200 Spider at Classic Park features the more powerful 1221 cc engine and has the special swiveling seats. The car was restored in the late 1990s and is still in very nice condition. Pictures of the restoration are present with the car. The Fiat has a Dutch license plate.
